Andreas de Barbatia

 

Biography

 

  • 1400: born in Messina (Sicily).
  • 1425: moved to Bologna, where he studied medicine, then law at Johannes of Imola, Baptista de Sancto Petro.
  • Doctor utrumque iuris
  • 1438: taught Canon Law.
  • taught Canon Law in Ferrara (called by margrave Nikolaus II).
  • 1442: citizen of Bologna, later Eques Auratus.
  • 1460: Marriage with Margaretha, daughter of Romeo Pepoli.
  • Amongst his students were: Rodorigo Borgia, Pope Alexander VI., Bartholomew Socinus, Hippolytus de Marsiliis.
  • 1478: Stopped teaching with Antonius Corsetus Siculus as his successor.
  • Death: 21st July 1479
