Johannes Apel


Biography



  • Born: 1486 in Nuremberg.
  • studied jurisprudence and Humanism in Wittenberg, Leipzig and Erfurt.
  • 01.06.1523: secret Marriage with an abducted nun followed by imprisonment.
  • 1524: Professor for Jurisprudence in Wittenberg (with support of Martin Luther).
  • 1530: Chancellor of Duke Albrecht in Königsberg.
  • 1534: Return to Nuremberg.
  • Death: 27.04.1536 in Nuremberg

  • Creation of a new methodology alongside the mos italicus
  • Methodica dialectes ratio ad jurisprudentiam (1527)
  • Isagoge (1540)
  • Development of a Legal system divided into ius in re (dominium) and ius ad rem (obligatio)
