Guido de Baysio


Biography


  • descendant of the noble Bolognese Baisi family.
  • studied in Reggio or Moderna.
  • Doctorate in Reggio.
  • Chaplain of the Bishop of Parma.
  • 1296: Archdeacon of the Cathedral in Bologna.
  • 1298: Canon at the Cathedral in Bologna.
  • 1301: Taught Canon Law (privatim), but with huge success so that he was made ordinary professor. Taught Johannes Andreae.
  • 1304: Went to the papal court in Avignon.
  • Was made Capellanus and Scriptor litterarum contradictoriarum.
  • Death: probably between 5th June and 10th August 1313.
