Sinibaldus Fliscus (de Flisco, ital. Fiesco)

Biography


 

  • as son of Hugo de Lavania and N. Grilla, Sinibaldus Fliscus (de Flisco, ital. Fiesco) studied the septem artes liberales under the patronage of his uncle Opizio, bishop of Parma.
  • studied law in Bologna under Laurentius, Vicentius, Johannes Teutonicus, Johannes de Albenga. Roman law under Azo, Jacobus Balduini and Accursius.
  • taught in Bologna.
  • Canonicus in Parma.
  • 1226: Auditor contradictarum litterarum
  • Legate together with Cardinal Hugolino of Ostia (Gregory IX.)
  • made Bishop of Genua and Pisa under Honorius III.
  • 23th September 1227: Cardinalate by Gregory IX.
  • 25th June 1243: elected as Pope Innocent IV.
  • died on the 07th December 1254.
