Antonius de Rosellis

(Aretinus, de Aretio, de Rosellis de Aretio, Roxellis)

 

Biography

 

  • born into an old family in Arezzo.
  • 1407: probably Doctorate in Bologna.
  • 1406-1407: taught Civil Law in Bologna.
  • Lectured in Siena.
  • was called by Martin V. to Rome.
  • was granted knighthood.
  • was apparently offered the cardinalate, but the Pope decided ultimately against it since he was already married twice. Antonius de Rosellis then left Rome out of anger.
  • 1438: Professor in Padua.
  • 16th December 1466: Death.
