Biography


 

  • born around 1200 in Susa (Turin).
  • studied Roman Law in Bologna under Jacobus Balduini, Homobonus and Canon Law under Jacobus de Albenga.
  • taught Canon Law in Paris.
  • 1244: Legate of King Henry III at Innocent IV.
  • Provost in Antibes and papal chaplain.
  • 1244: Bishop of Sisteron.
  • 1250: Bishop of Embrun.
  • Canon in Vienne
  • 4th December 1261: Cardinal Bishop of Ostia and Velletri.
  • 1270: Renounced his right to elect a pope at the conclave due to illness.
  • 1271: Withdraws to Minorites in Horto.
  • Death: 25th October 1271.
