Franciscus de Zabarellis


Biography

 

  • born around 1335 in Padua.
  • studied Law in Bologna under Laurentius de Pinu and Johannes de Lignano.
  • 1379: Professor of Canon Law in Padua.
  • 1382: Professor of Canon Law in Florence.
  • made Bishop of Florence by John XXIII, but could not take possession of the diocese.
  • went back to Padua and taught.
  • was Archipresbyter in the Cathedral.
  • denied Election as Bishop.
  • Cardinalate
  • was Legate at the Council of Constance.
  • Death: 6th November 1417.
