Johannes de Lignano


Biography

 

  • we know nothing about his birth and youth.
  • studied around 1352 under Paulus de Liazariis in Bologna.
  • 1358: Professor of Civil Law and advocatus.
  • 1364: Professor of Canon Law.
  • went to Avignon (together with Johannes Andreae).
  • Govenor (Vicarius Generalis in Temporalibus) of Bologna.
  • 15. January 1378: Bologna grants him citizenship out of gratitude.
  • taught Franciscus de Zabarellis and Johannes de Imola.
  • Died on the 16th January 1383 from the plague.
