Johannes Lapus Castilioneus


Biography

 

  • member of the Castiglionchio family.
  • studied in Bologna, first Philosophy, then Jurisprudence at Johannes Calderinus, Lapus Abbas and Johannes de Lignano.
  • 1353: Doctorate
  • 1367: Professor of Canon Law
  • until 1378: Professor in Florence
  • Legate to Avignon, Viterbo, Siena, Lucca, Genua and to Gregory XI (1377).
  • escapes to the Monastery S.Croce after rumour that he wants to put the city under papal authority.
  • banned, expropriated and sent into exile to Barcelona.
  • 1379: Professor in Padua.
  • Death: 27th June 1381.
